IDF Ammunition, Explosives Found Hidden in Olive Tree Trunk in Yarka

Israeli security forces discovered a cache of weapons and ammunition, including explosives and IDF-issued munitions, hidden in the village of Yarka in northern Israel. The discovery was made by Border Police (Magav) officers during a search operation in the area.

During the search, a soldier noticed an item that aroused his suspicion, which turned out to be an IDF detonator fuse. This led to an expanded search, during which officers found two IDF-made hand grenades, a firearm silencer, standard 5.56mm and 9mm ammunition, weapon parts, two standard M16 magazines, and two pistol magazines.

Further investigation revealed a package wrapped in plastic concealed within the trunk of an olive tree. Inside this package were two IDF ammunition crates containing standard 7.62mm ammunition. The entire cache was seized and handed over to the Western Galilee police station for further investigation.

The operation was part of a broader security effort by the Coastal District's task force in anticipation of the Yom Kippur holiday and the ongoing fight against illegal weapons possession and use.
