New York Mayor Calls Netanyahu 'War Criminal' Ahead of UN Visit

New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who is Muslim, has again criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, calling him a "war criminal" and the "architect of a monstrous genocide" against the Palestinian people. Adams made these remarks on CNN ahead of Netanyahu's arrival in New York for the UN General Assembly session.

Adams questioned how the U.S. could disregard the International Criminal Court's (ICC) potential arrest warrant for Netanyahu, stating, "If the International Criminal Court found that he deserves to be arrested for violating international law, then how can we say that we are above this?"

This is not the first time Adams has made such statements. Previously, he threatened Netanyahu with arrest based on the ICC warrant, though he later acknowledged he lacked the authority to do so. Adams is the first Muslim mayor of a city with the world's largest Jewish population.

Despite Adams's strong anti-Israel rhetoric, which critics claim has contributed to a rise in antisemitic incidents in the U.S., he denies any such connection.
