New York Mayor Calls Netanyahu a 'War Criminal' After Meeting Trump

New York City Mayor Eric Adams has called for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to be arrested, urging respect for the International Criminal Court's arrest warrant against him. Adams made these remarks in an interview with CNN shortly after a reportedly positive meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House.

During the CNN interview, Adams reiterated his strong criticism of Netanyahu, labeling him a "war criminal and architect of a terrible genocide of the Palestinian people." He stated that the issue of Netanyahu's potential arrest was discussed with President Trump. "If the court determines that someone is worthy of arrest for violating laws, no one should be above it and everyone should be held accountable," Adams asserted.

Adams, described as far-left, had previously threatened to arrest Netanyahu if he visited New York. However, he acknowledged that he lacks the authority to prevent the visit or carry out an arrest. He also indicated he would not participate in planned protests against the Prime Minister.

The meeting between Trump and Adams was characterized as successful and surprisingly cordial. The two leaders reportedly set aside political differences to discuss immigration enforcement and a multi-billion dollar housing project. At a press conference, Trump praised Adams, expressing optimism about his tenure as mayor. Adams thanked Trump, noting his commitment to cooperation despite their differing views, to benefit New York City residents.
