Israeli Man Arrested in West Bank With Millions in Drugs Linked to Hamas
Israeli police announced the arrest of a southern Israeli resident in Area A of the West Bank, carrying a large quantity of drugs valued at over 10 million shekels. Among the seized substances was Captagon, a drug identified as having been used by Hamas terrorists during the October 7th massacre. The suspect, a 48-year-old resident of Shagav Shalom in southern Israel, was apprehended by Palestinian Authority police in Bethlehem.
Following coordination between the Israeli Police's Judea and Samaria District Liaison Unit and their Palestinian counterparts, the suspect was handed over to Israeli forces. The handover process involved representatives from the IDF's Civil Administration and the District Coordination Office (DCO). The suspect was taken into custody by officers from the Etzion police station in the Judean region, along with his vehicle and the confiscated drugs.
Authorities seized over 170,000 Captagon tablets and more than 17,000 Tramadol tablets. The suspect is being investigated for drug possession and illegal entry into Area A. He is expected to appear in court for an extension of his remand.
