Massive Drug Bust in Bethlehem Linked to Hamas
Israeli police arrested a 48-year-old resident of Segev Shalom after he was found in possession of over 170,000 suspected Captagon tablets and more than 17,000 Tramadol tablets in Bethlehem. The estimated street value of the seized drugs exceeds 10 million shekels. The arrest was made by Palestinian police and subsequently transferred to Israeli officers at the Etzion station in the Judea region, following coordination between the Israeli and Palestinian police forces, with participation from the IDF's Coordination and Liaison Administration.
Authorities stated that Captagon has been used by Hamas terrorists, notably during the October 7th attacks. The suspect is also being investigated for illegally entering Area A, a Palestinian-controlled zone. His vehicle and the seized substances were also confiscated.
The suspect has been transferred for interrogation at the Etzion station and is expected to appear in court for a remand extension hearing.
