Police Solve Caucasus Crime Boss Murder in Caesarea, Suspect to Be Charged
Israeli police announced Tuesday they have solved the murder of Yanis Yushbayev, 41, the head of the Caucasus crime family, who was shot dead at a gas station in Caesarea last month. A 54-year-old resident of Beit She'an has been identified as the main suspect, and a statement of charges has been filed against him. Prosecutors are expected to file an indictment and request his remand until the end of proceedings in the coming days.
The investigation began on August 23 following reports of a shooting at the Caesarea gas station. Medical teams pronounced Yushbayev dead at the scene. Police stated that investigators identified and apprehended the primary suspect within days. His detention was repeatedly extended by the court throughout the investigation.
With the investigation now concluded, police have established sufficient evidence against the suspect. The Haifa District Prosecutor's Office is preparing to file the indictment and seek his continued detention.
