City Market Sells 11 Branches for $9.5 Million, Plans Major Expansion
Supermarket chain City Market announced a strategic move Tuesday, selling 11 of its branches to the retail chain '100 and Beyond' for approximately NIS 35 million (about $9.5 million USD). This transaction is part of City Market's business strategy, which includes realizing and improving existing operations while continuing to invest in the chain's growth through new store openings nationwide.
City Market has shown significant growth over the past year, opening eight new branches, and plans to continue this expansion momentum into 2027 with an additional 15 stores slated to open across Israel. The sale is contingent upon approval from the Director of Competition and adherence to applicable regulations.
The branches being sold are located in Beer Yaakov, Ramla, Kfar Saba, Beer Sheva, Kiryat Ono, Rehovot, Hadera, Or Yehuda, Tel Aviv-Yafo, and Gedera. They will operate under the '100 and Beyond' chain, established in early 2026 and led by Daniel Veridiger.
Yossi Schwartz, founder and CEO of City Market, stated, "We continue to develop the City Market chain according to our unique concept. Concurrently with the sale transaction, City Market is opening six new branches these days, with a total investment of NIS 20 million (about $5.4 million USD), and expects to open about 15 additional branches in 2027."
