Police Arrest Three Suspects in School Tablet Theft Ring

Police in the Lachish region have arrested three suspects in connection with a series of six burglaries at schools in the area over the past month. Hundreds of tablets used by students were stolen during these break-ins, which also occurred in Nitzanim, Beit Hanan, Beer Ganim, and Amonim. The arrests were made on Highway 6 near Kiryat Malakhi following intelligence that the suspects were heading towards the Sharon region. The suspects, who are residents of the Bedouin diaspora in the south, were apprehended in a joint operation involving detectives from the Lachish region, Kiryat Malakhi station officers, and Border Police. They have been transferred for further investigation, and police are examining their potential involvement in other incidents.

In a separate case, four teenagers aged 15-16 from Bat Yam were arrested in July on suspicion of a series of burglaries, thefts, and vandalism at a school in their city. Following their investigation, the youth prosecution unit in the Tel Aviv district filed an indictment and requested their detention until the legal proceedings conclude. This investigation began after multiple reports to the police's 100 hotline about break-ins at educational institutions in Bat Yam, which included significant property damage and the theft of equipment. The four are alleged to have acted together, breaking into a school on Keren Ha'Yesod Street multiple times, stealing property, and intentionally causing damage, including using a stolen drill.
