Israel Football Association Slams Ireland Coach's 'Ignorance and Stupidity'
The Israeli national football team is currently holding a training camp in Austria as they prepare for upcoming Nations League matches. The coaching staff has instructed players to ignore external distractions and avoid provocations from the Irish team, according to ONE.
The tension was escalated by Iceland's national team coach, Hákon Hákonarson, who stated that his team would be playing "against genocide, not the Israeli national team." In response, the Israel Football Association (IFA) criticized the Irish coach, declaring that he "embodies ignorance and stupidity."
Initially, the IFA had no plans to address the coach's remarks. However, due to what they described as aggressive anti-Israeli rhetoric in Ireland, they decided to break their silence. The upcoming match between Ireland and Israel will be held in Serbia for security reasons.
The Israeli team is scheduled to play against Ireland on September 27 and October 4. They will also face Austria on September 24 and Kosovo on October 1.
