Israel Football Association Slams Irish Coach's 'Genocide' Remark

The Israel Football Association has responded sharply to comments made by the Republic of Ireland's national team coach, who stated his team would play "against genocide" when facing Israel. The match, part of the Nations League, is scheduled for Sunday, September 27th, in Debrecen, Hungary, due to the tense political climate.

Icelandic coach Hámoor Halgrímsson told reporters, "We don't play with genocide, we play against genocide. We play against Israel, not with Israel." He also questioned why Russia was suspended from international competitions while Israel was not.

In a statement released before Yom Kippur, the Israel Football Association retorted, "Unfortunately, we have not yet found a cure for stupidity, ignorance, and hypocrisy as demonstrated by the Irish national team coach. We do not play with ignorance, hypocrisy, and stupidity, but against those who represent them as a coach." The association highlighted Israel's contributions to the world, including numerous Nobel Prizes.

This controversy comes as 163 Irish athletes have signed a petition urging their national team to boycott the upcoming match. Israel and Ireland are scheduled to play twice, on September 27th and again on October 4th.
