National Insurance Advances Payments for Pensioners Ahead of Sukkot Holiday
The National Insurance Institute in Israel has announced an early disbursement of long-term benefits for eligible recipients, scheduled for Tuesday, September 22, 2026. This advance payment is in observance of the upcoming Sukkot holiday.
The benefits that will be paid early include those for the elderly, survivors, work injury victims, alimony recipients, disability, mobility, long-term care, and "Prisoners of Zion." This early payment follows closely on the heels of child benefit payments, which were also advanced.
Earlier in September, due to Rosh Hashanah, the National Insurance Institute had already expedited payments for unemployment and income support benefits, which were disbursed on September 8, 2026.
Additionally, the deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to report and pay insurance contributions was set for September 15. The average benefit payment has seen an increase of up to 2.64% since the beginning of 2026, attributed to the rise in the consumer price index. The current average payment across all benefit types stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
