National Insurance Advances Payments Ahead of Sukkot Holiday

The National Insurance Institute will advance several benefit payments to recipients ahead of the Sukkot holiday. Long-term benefit payments for September, including those for seniors, survivors, general disability, disabled children, special services, mobility, work injury, alimony, rehabilitation, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion, will be disbursed on Tuesday, September 22, 2026. This is a shift from the usual payment date of the 28th of the month, moved up due to the proximity of Sukkot and Yom Kippur.

The National Insurance Institute clarified that this is an advancement of the payment date only, not an increase in the benefit amounts themselves. Child benefits for September will be paid on their regular schedule, Sunday, September 20, 2026, the eve of Yom Kippur.

Unemployment benefits and income support payments for September were also advanced earlier this month, on September 8, 2026, in anticipation of Rosh Hashanah.

In addition to payment schedules, the National Insurance Institute announced its branch operating hours during the High Holidays. Branches will be closed to the public from Thursday, September 17, through Monday, September 21, following Yom Kippur. They will reopen on Tuesday, September 22. Branches will again be closed for Sukkot and its intermediate days (Chol HaMoed), from September 25 through October 4, 2026. During this period, no in-person or phone appointments can be booked. Service will resume on October 5, 2026. Phone service centers will only be available on September 17 and October 4. Medical committee meetings scheduled during branch closures will proceed as planned.
