Israel National Insurance Institute Advances Payments Ahead of Holidays
The National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) in Israel has begun distributing benefits for September, with several payment dates advanced due to upcoming Jewish holidays. Most notably, child benefits will be paid on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the eve of Yom Kippur. Additionally, long-term benefit payments scheduled for Sukkot will be disbursed early on September 22, 2026. This includes payments for seniors, survivors, work injury victims, alimony, disability, mobility, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion.
Earlier in September, ahead of Rosh Hashanah, the Institute had already advanced payments for unemployment benefits and income support, which were issued on September 8, 2026. The deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to report and pay insurance contributions was September 15.
These payments come as average benefit amounts have increased by up to 2.64% since the start of 2026, attributed to the rise in the consumer price index. The current average payment across all benefit types stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
