National Insurance Payments Arrive Early for Some Beneficiaries

Recipients of National Insurance benefits in Israel reported receiving their September long-term payments earlier than scheduled, with some seeing the funds deposited in their bank accounts as early as Sunday, September 20th. While the official payment date was Tuesday, September 22nd, ahead of the Sukkot holiday, numerous beneficiaries shared their surprise on public Facebook groups, confirming the early arrival of funds. However, the early deposits were not universal, as some individuals reported that their payments had not yet appeared.

The National Insurance Institute had previously announced that long-term benefits for September would be advanced to the 22nd from the usual 28th, in anticipation of the Sukkot holiday. This advance payment covers various benefits, including disability, old-age, survivors', and child disability benefits, among others. The early deposit on the 20th for at least some recipients means they received their payments even sooner than the officially announced advanced date.

One user-suggested explanation for the early deposit relates to bank operating days. Since Sunday is not a business day for some banking systems, the transaction might have been processed for the official date of September 22nd, but the funds became available in accounts on Sunday.

Separately, child benefits for September were scheduled for payment on September 20th, in line with the official calendar. The advance payment of long-term benefits was one of several adjustments made by the National Insurance Institute due to the High Holidays. Unemployment and income support benefits were also advanced to September 8th, before Rosh Hashanah.

National Insurance Institute branches are affected by the holiday schedule, with closures for public reception from September 17th until after Yom Kippur on September 21st, resuming on September 22nd. Further closures are scheduled from September 25th to October 4th, with services resuming on October 5th. Telephone service centers will be available only on September 17th and October 4th. Scheduled medical committee meetings during the closure periods will proceed as planned.
