National Insurance Advances September Payments Ahead of Sukkot Holiday

The National Insurance Institute announced that long-term benefit payments for September will be advanced to Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in anticipation of the Sukkot holiday. This early disbursement allows families and benefit recipients to have funds available before incurring holiday-related expenses. Typically, a significant portion of these benefits are paid towards the end of the month.

The advanced payment will be directly deposited into recipients' updated bank accounts. The beneficiaries include those receiving old-age pensions, survivor benefits, general disability, child disability, special services, mobility, work injury, alimony, rehabilitation, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion benefits. The National Insurance Institute stated the early payment aims to assist recipients in preparing for holiday expenditures.

Child benefits, however, are not included in the September 22nd advance; they are scheduled for September 20th. Unemployment benefits and income support were already paid earlier in September, on the 8th, in advance of Rosh Hashanah.

This advance does not increase the benefit amount; it is the standard monthly payment arriving a few days earlier. Recipients should note that the next payment will follow the regular schedule, potentially creating a longer interval between this early payment and the subsequent one. The National Insurance Institute periodically advances payments before holidays to ensure funds are available to beneficiaries. This year, both unemployment/income support and long-term benefits were advanced in September to aid in preparations for the High Holidays (Tishrei holidays).
