National Insurance Advances September Pension Payments Ahead of Holidays

The National Insurance Institute has announced an advance in the payment of long-term benefits for September, in anticipation of the High Holidays. Eligible recipients will now receive these payments on September 22, 2026, six days earlier than the originally scheduled date of September 28. This early disbursement applies to a wide range of benefits, including those for the elderly, survivors, disability, disabled children, special services for the severely disabled, mobility, work injury, alimony, rehabilitation, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion.

This is not the only payment schedule adjustment for September. Unemployment and income support benefits, initially set for September 14, were moved forward to September 8 in observance of Rosh Hashanah. Child benefits, however, will be paid on the usual date of September 20.

The National Insurance Institute clarified that child benefits are intended for families in Israel with children under 18, regardless of income. Payments are typically automatic, based on information provided to the institute. The amount varies based on the number of children, their birth dates, and whether a parent receives a subsistence benefit. As of January 1, 2026, the monthly amount is 173 shekels for the first child and the fifth child onward, and 219 shekels for the second, third, and fourth children.

Eligibility for child benefits generally extends to a parent for their children under 18, provided the child resides in Israel and is unmarried. In specific circumstances, guardians or non-residents meeting set criteria may also be eligible.
