Israel's National Security Minister Calls for Terrorist's Execution

Israel's National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir is advocating for the death penalty for the terrorist responsible for a fatal shooting attack in the Benjamin region. The attack resulted in the death of a 30-year-old resident of Samaria. Ben-Gvir, a leader of the "Otzma Yehudit" party, stated that the death penalty should be an obligatory punishment in this case, citing the law on capital punishment for terrorists that his party previously advanced.

"The law is the law, this is the law we passed, this is the law that allows the execution of a terrorist, and this is an opportunity. Now, execution!" Ben-Gvir declared, according to Channel 7.

The terrorist fled the scene after the attack but was later apprehended by IDF soldiers. Palestinian sources reported his capture in the center of Ramallah. Israeli military data indicates that a nearby sniper engaged the attacker shortly after the incident, wounding him, but the assailant managed to escape before being found at a medical facility.

Hamas has commented on the attack, near the settlement of Halmish in the Benjamin area, approving the perpetrator's actions. The organization claimed the attack was a response to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's actions at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Prime Minister Netanyahu has responded to the deadly incident by instructing the IDF and security services to enhance their operations and security measures in Judea and Samaria.
