Shooter Kills Israeli Man Near West Bank Spring; Second Attack Foiled

A Palestinian gunman opened fire Sunday at the Ein Ri'a spring near the settlement of Neve Tzuf in the West Bank, killing a man in his 30s who had come to the site to immerse himself in water ahead of Yom Kippur. Video footage from the scene captured the sound of gunfire as terrified visitors scrambled for cover, with one person heard asking if the army was present.

The victim was found in his vehicle with multiple gunshot wounds and was evacuated to Beilinson Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The assailant fled the scene on foot, prompting the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) to impose a closure on the nearby Palestinian village of Deir Nizam. A large contingent of forces, including the Benjamin Brigade, the Duvdevan Unit, and police, were deployed to the area, establishing roadblocks and initiating a manhunt aided by drones and Air Force assets.

Approximately one hour after the shooting, a car-ramming attempt occurred near the Ganim outpost in the northern West Bank. IDF soldiers from the 890th Battalion responded by firing at the vehicle, killing the driver. A second suspect in the car was apprehended by the forces.

The IDF has launched a manhunt for the shooter responsible for the fatal attack at the spring, while the car-ramming attempt was thwarted with the neutralization of the perpetrator.
