Netanyahu Visits Western Wall for Selichot Prayers Ahead of Yom Kippur

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his wife Sara visited the Western Wall in Jerusalem to participate in Selichot prayers, a tradition observed in the days leading up to Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. The visit included a tour of the Western Wall Tunnels, where Netanyahu remarked on their proximity to the Holy of Holies.

During the visit, Netanyahu posted a video on his Instagram account reciting the "Mi Sheberach" prayer for the welfare of IDF soldiers, captioning it as a "privilege to pray at the Western Wall during the Selichot ceremony for the peace of our soldiers." This prayer for soldiers aligns with the themes of the Selichot period, which is traditionally a time for introspection, prayer, and seeking forgiveness.

President Isaac Herzog also participated in a Selichot ceremony at the Western Wall on September 15, offering prayers for the safety and well-being of IDF soldiers and security forces, as well as for the recovery of the wounded and the comfort of bereaved families.

Netanyahu's visit to the Western Wall follows a series of public appearances, including attending a concert by singer Eden Ben Zaken with his wife.
