Netanyahu Prays for Soldiers at Western Wall
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu recited a prayer for the safety of IDF soldiers at the Western Wall on Tuesday evening, during the final Selichot (penitential prayers) service preceding Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. Thousands of worshippers gathered at the holy site for the service.
Following the prayer, Netanyahu addressed the crowd, wishing them "Gmar Chatimah Tovah" (May you be sealed for a good year) and "Shanah Tovah" (Happy New Year), common greetings for the High Holidays.
Yom Kippur, the holiest day in Judaism, falls this year on Wednesday evening, September 24th, and concludes on Thursday evening, September 25th. It is a day of fasting, prayer, and atonement.
