Infant Critical After Not Waking From Sleep in Beit Shemesh
A three-month-old infant was rushed to Jerusalem's Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in critical condition Sunday morning after failing to wake up from sleep at his home in the ultra-Orthodox neighborhood of Beit Shemesh.
Emergency medical responders, including Magen David Adom, Tzevet Hatzala, and United Hatzalah, arrived at the scene to find the baby without a pulse or breathing. They immediately began advanced resuscitation efforts, including chest compressions and artificial respiration.
"When we arrived, we were handed a three-month-old baby, without a pulse and without breathing, after his family said he did not wake up from his sleep," recounted Tzevet Hatzala volunteers Yisrael Cohen and Yitzchak Zalmanov.
The infant was transported by a Magen David Adom intensive care unit to the hospital's trauma unit, with resuscitation efforts continuing en route. His condition was described as critical.
