Israeli Soccer League Sets New Attendance Record
The Israeli Premier League, known as Winner League, shattered its previous attendance record this past weekend, drawing over 96,000 spectators to matches played on Friday and Saturday. This figure surpasses the old record of 83,276 attendees.
The record-breaking attendance was spread across several matches, with the highest turnouts for Hapoel Tel Aviv versus Hapoel Petah Tikva (20,692) and Beitar Jerusalem against Hapoel Haifa (21,627). Maccabi Haifa's game against Ironi Tiberias also saw a significant crowd of 26,213.
League chairman Erez Halfon expressed his excitement and pride, stating, "I am excited and proud to see the fans voting with their feet and filling the stadiums in droves so early in the season." He highlighted that breaking the record in just the fifth week of the season is a testament to Israeli football's appeal, competitiveness, and the public's trust in the league. Halfon also noted the presence of thousands of women, men, children, and families creating an exceptional atmosphere before the season's peak moments.
