Hamas Commander Involved in Holding Israeli Hostages Killed in Gaza
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) and the Shin Bet revealed on Thursday that Na'el Abu A'bid, a Hamas commander killed in Gaza this week, was involved for years in holding Israeli soldiers and civilians abducted to the Strip. Abu A'bid, who commanded Hamas's Rafah Brigade, was reportedly implicated in the captivity of several Israelis, including Lieutenant Hadar Goldin, who was held by Hamas. Goldin was killed during Operation Protective Edge in 2014, the same year Abu A'bid served as deputy commander of the Rafah Brigade and allegedly participated in Goldin's holding.

He was reportedly involved in the captivity of Sergeant Nimrod Cohen, who was held in an underground facility in the Rafah area.
