IDF, Lebanese Army Clash Over Border Observation Post

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) reported an incident on the Lebanese border where Israeli soldiers pushed back Lebanese army personnel from an observation post in southern Lebanon. According to the IDF, the post was established without coordination and in violation of existing agreements. The IDF stated that several Lebanese soldiers crossed a "yellow line" and set up checkpoints in an area under Israeli responsibility, prompting the IDF to remove them.

The Lebanese side confirmed the incident but offered a different account. They claim Israeli soldiers approached a temporary observation post near Deir Mimass, close to Marjayoun, which they stated was set up on September 10 after coordination with the Military Coordination Group for Lebanon (MCG4L). The Lebanese asserted their soldiers at the post were escorting locals checking farmland.

According to the Lebanese version, IDF soldiers threw stun grenades toward the post, leading to the deployment of additional Lebanese army forces. Both sides were placed on high alert. Later, negotiations mediated by the MCG4L resulted in Israeli forces leaving the area and Lebanese soldiers returning to their permanent base near Marjayoun.

This incident follows a period of heightened alert for the IDF, which had reportedly been placed on full combat readiness due to concerns about potential renewed hostilities with Hezbollah. The Israeli military has vowed to immediately thwart any attempts by the group to rebuild its military capabilities.
