Israeli Ex-Soldier Killed in Paragliding Accident in Colombia
A 23-year-old Israeli man, recently discharged from the IDF, died yesterday in a paragliding accident near Medellin, Colombia. The incident occurred during his post-military "big trip." The young man was paragliding in a tandem setup with a local instructor when the parachute reportedly crashed in a wooded area. His death was pronounced at the scene.
The local instructor sustained serious injuries and was transported to a Medellin hospital. Colombian authorities have launched an investigation into the crash, with weather conditions being examined as a potential factor. Eyewitnesses reported strong winds in the area prior to the accident.
Rescue, police, and fire services responded to the scene to recover the body. Simultaneously, an investigation began to determine the circumstances of the crash. In Israel, efforts are underway to repatriate the body for burial. A Chabad representative in Medellin is coordinating with the Israeli Embassy and local authorities to facilitate the process.
