National Insurance to Distribute Child Benefits Ahead of Yom Kippur
The National Insurance Institute in Israel has begun distributing September benefits, with adjustments made due to the upcoming holidays. Notably, child benefits will be paid out on Sunday, September 20, 2026, the eve of Yom Kippur. Additionally, payments for long-term benefits, including old-age pensions, survivors' benefits, work injury, alimony, disability, mobility, long-term care, and prisoners of Zion, will be advanced to September 22, 2026, in observance of the Sukkot holiday.
These holiday-related payment shifts follow earlier advancements for unemployment and income support benefits, which were disbursed on September 8, 2026, just before Rosh Hashanah. The deadline for self-employed individuals and employers to report and pay insurance contributions was September 15.
Since the beginning of 2026, average benefit payments have increased by up to 2.64% due to rising consumer price index. The current average payment across all benefit types stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
