Israel's National Insurance Adjusts Payouts Ahead of High Holidays
Israel's National Insurance Institute (Bituah Leumi) is altering its payment schedule in September to accommodate the upcoming Jewish holidays. Child allowances will be disbursed on September 20, 2026, just before Yom Kippur, while certain long-term benefits will be paid on September 22, 2026, ahead of Sukkot. These adjustments ensure recipients receive their funds before the holiday periods commence.
Earlier in September, on the 8th, payments for unemployment and income support for September were also advanced due to Rosh Hashanah. The institute is also adjusting deadlines for insurance contributions for the self-employed and employers, with the September deadline falling on the 15th.
The changes are a direct response to Israel's dense holiday calendar in September, which includes Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkot. Bituah Leumi aims to provide beneficiaries with their payments prior to these significant dates.
Separately, the average benefit amount has increased by up to 2.64% since the beginning of 2026, attributed to the rise in the consumer price index. The average payout across all benefit types now stands at approximately 5,280 shekels.
