AI English Tutor Loora Raises $22 Million in Series B Funding

The AI-powered English learning platform Loora has secured $22 million in its Series B funding round, led by US investment firm Union Tech Ventures. The round also saw participation from Israeli fund vgames and existing investors Emerge, Hearst Ventures, and QP Ventures. Founded in 2020 by CEO Roy Mor and CTO Yoni Levin, Loora previously raised $9.25 million in a seed round and $12 million in a Series A round in 2024.

Loora's platform utilizes interactive voice conversations, allowing users to speak English and receive immediate feedback on grammar, pronunciation, and fluency. The learning experience is personalized to each user's level and interests. To date, users have engaged in over 200 million conversations with the system, and the company's revenue has doubled in the past twelve months.

Approximately 200,000 of Loora's users are located in Israel, with the typical user age ranging between 25 and 55. The company states that 72% of its users learn English to advance their careers. Loora has also established distribution agreements with over 100 companies, governments, and universities worldwide to offer its service to employees and students.

The company plans to nearly double its workforce from around 30 to 60 employees within the next six months, focusing on hiring AI and learning science researchers, according to Globes. Loora offers a model for using AI in education, traditionally reliant on human teachers, by enabling frequent practice and instant feedback. A monthly subscription costs 69.90 shekels.

This new funding comes amid a broader expansion of AI applications in education, particularly in personalized training and language learning, with a growing trend towards tools that allow continuous practice outside traditional classroom settings.
