Border Police Officer Shoots, Kills Driver in Umm el-Fahm After Alleged Attack

Alaa Mahamid, who was shot by a Border Police officer in Umm el-Fahm, has died from his injuries in the hospital. According to the preliminary police version of events, Mahamid was driving a vehicle and attempted to evade law enforcement officers. During the pursuit, a car accident occurred. Following the crash, officers attempted to detain Mahamid. Police claim that during the arrest attempt, Mahamid attacked a Border Police officer, who then opened fire. Mahamid sustained a severe gunshot wound and was transported to the hospital, where doctors later pronounced him dead. The circumstances of the incident and the use of live ammunition are currently under investigation.
