Police Shoot Suspect After Alleged Assault During Umm Al-Fahm Chase
A suspect was injured after police opened fire on him following an alleged assault on an officer during a car chase that concluded in the city of Umm Al-Fahm. Police stated that officers on patrol in Umm Al-Fahm noticed a suspicious vehicle on Route 65 and signaled for it to stop. The driver failed to comply and fled, driving recklessly and endangering other road users. The pursuit ended within the city. As officers attempted to arrest the driver, he allegedly acted suspiciously while still inside his vehicle. When an officer approached the car, the suspect reportedly exited suddenly and attacked the officer. The officer then fired his weapon, hitting the suspect. The injured suspect was transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the incident.
