Israel Braces for Heatwave Relief as Rain Approaches This Weekend

Israel is experiencing unusually warm weather on Thursday, with temperatures remaining higher than average for this time of year across most regions. The heat is expected to be particularly intense in areas like the Sea of Galilee, the Dead Sea, the Jordan Valley, and the Arava desert, with extreme heat load conditions predicted. The UV index will be high to very high, and the Mediterranean Sea will have moderate to choppy waves ranging from 30 to 60 centimeters.

Looking ahead to Friday morning, localized rain is forecast for northern Israel and along the coastal plain. Skies will be partly cloudy, and a significant drop in temperatures is expected, especially in mountainous and inland areas, bringing them back to seasonal averages. Throughout Friday, northern and central Israel may see scattered showers, with a possibility of isolated thunderstorms in the north. Winds are also predicted to strengthen in most areas.

Saturday will remain partly cloudy with little change in temperatures. Light, localized rain or drizzle might persist in the north and along the coast until the afternoon. By Sunday, the eve of Yom Kippur, the morning will be partly cloudy, clearing to fair weather later in the day. A slight increase in temperatures is expected, returning to seasonal norms in most regions.

Today's forecasted temperatures range from 20-32°C in Jerusalem, 23-31°C in Tel Aviv and Haifa, and reach highs of 39°C in Beit She'an and 41°C in Eilat.
