Top Rabbis Endorse Charity for Health Blessings

Leading rabbis have signed a special document, known as the 'Vehasereti' (And I Will Remove) pledge, associated with the "Vehasereti Machala Mikirbecha" (And I Will Remove Sickness From Your Midst) fund. This initiative, established by the late Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky based on a tradition from his father, Rabbi Yaakov Yisrael Kanievsky, aims to protect donors from illness.

The fund encourages donations, with the promise that contributing a "meaningful sum" to help the sick will shield the donor and their household from disease. The rabbis emphasize that this is a proven method to prevent sickness.

In a new ruling, the rabbis have extended this blessing to include those seeking marriage, considering them as part of the "body" who are also covered by the decree of "no sickness in their homes." Additionally, a representative from the "Kupat Ha'ir" charity will visit Rabbi Kanievsky's grave each Rosh Chodesh (the start of the Jewish month) to pray for the continued fulfillment of this blessing for donors.

Rabbi Shimon Galei has been appointed to convene a court of prominent rabbis and fund representatives every Rosh Chodesh to pray for donors, continuing Rabbi Kanievsky's practice. The rabbis have also committed to adding a special prayer for donors during Grace After Meals.

Regular donors to the fund will receive a special document bearing the signature of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky and details of the monthly prayers offered on their behalf. Hundreds have already joined this initiative, with the article urging others to contribute a significant amount to receive the signed 'Vehasereti' document.
