Leading Rabbis Endorse Charity for Health Blessings Before Yom Kippur

As Yom Kippur approaches, a special appeal is being made by prominent rabbis for donations to the 'VeHasirati' (And I Will Remove) fund, which promises protection from illness for its contributors. The fund, established under the guidance of the late Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, aims to provide a "protective shield" for those who donate a "meaningful sum" to charity, thereby preventing sickness.

Several leading rabbinical figures, including Rabbi Yitzchak Zilberstein, Rabbi Shimon Gila'i, Rabbi Mordechai Shmuel Klein, Rabbi Shmuel Eliyahu Stern, Rabbi Yitzchak Koldetzky, and Rabbi Yisrael Kanievsky, have issued a call to action. They emphasize that donating to the fund is a "clear and proven reality" that ensures contributors will not experience illness in their homes. They also extended the blessing to include those seeking a spouse, considering them part of the "body" who are also covered by the decree of "no illness in their homes."

In a new ruling, the fund's rabbinical committee announced that a representative from the 'Kupat Ha'ir' charity will ascend to Rabbi Kanievsky's grave every eve of the new Hebrew month to pray for the continued fulfillment of this blessing for donors. Furthermore, Rabbi Shimon Gila'i has been appointed to convene a rabbinical court on these evenings to pray for the donors' well-being, continuing Rabbi Kanievsky's practice.

The rabbis have also pledged to add a special prayer for the fund's donors during grace after meals. Regular donors will receive a special document bearing the signature of Rabbi Chaim Kanievsky, along with details of the monthly prayers offered on their behalf.
