Israeli Chief Rabbinate Sets Donation Amount for Kapparot Ritual

The Chief Rabbinate of Israel has announced the recommended monetary donation amount for the Kapparot ritual, traditionally performed before Yom Kippur. Chief Rabbis David Yosef and Kalman Bar have determined that the sum for this year should be approximately 30 Israeli shekels per person, including VAT.

These funds collected through the Kapparot ritual will be directed to support Torah and charity institutions. The announcement was made in a special letter issued in anticipation of Yom Kippur.

In addition to setting the donation amount, the Chief Rabbis also called for prayers to be recited on the Day of Atonement. They urged the public to say the "El Maleh Rachamim" prayer in memory of fallen soldiers of Israel's wars, and to pray for the recovery of the wounded and the success of the IDF soldiers and security forces.
