Beitar Jerusalem Acquires Uri Azu on Loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv

Beitar Jerusalem announced on Monday the signing of winger Uri Azu, 21, from Maccabi Tel Aviv in an unusual loan deal with an option to buy. The agreement stipulates that if Azu plays more than 50% of the available minutes, Beitar Jerusalem will have the option to purchase 50% of his playing rights for NIS 1.2 million, in addition to a NIS 200,000 loan fee.

Azu is currently under contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv until 2027, though the club has the option to extend his contract by an additional two years. He will wear jersey number 23 for Beitar Jerusalem.

In the previous two seasons, Azu was loaned to Ashdod, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances. Ashdod was relegated during his last season there. In the first half of the 2024/25 season, Azu scored nine goals for Hapoel Nir Ramat Hasharon. He is considered one of the promising players to emerge from Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth academy in recent years.
