Maccabi Tel Aviv Opens to Selling Uri Azou to Israeli Clubs Including Beitar Jerusalem

Uri Azou, once hailed as a promising talent at Maccabi Tel Aviv, has struggled to secure a regular spot in the team despite being part of the reigning cup champions. Last summer, Maccabi firmly rejected any permanent transfer offers for Azou, only agreeing to loan deals and explicitly vetoing sales to four major Israeli clubs considered direct rivals, including Beitar Jerusalem.

However, a year later, Maccabi Tel Aviv's stance has softened. The club is now open to permanently transferring Azou, including to Israeli teams, though no formal offers have been received yet. The asking price set by Maccabi is around 750,000 euros, reflecting their valuation of the midfielder despite his limited impact last season.

Azou's representatives are pushing for a significant price reduction, citing comparable transfers such as Younes Melida, who was sold for 100,000 euros despite similar playing time. Maccabi is reportedly willing to negotiate down to approximately 350,000 euros, showing some flexibility to accommodate the player's wishes.

Beitar Jerusalem has conducted preliminary inquiries about Azou but has not submitted an official bid. Should the price drop to the 350,000 euro range, Beitar could seriously consider signing him. Azou himself prefers a permanent move rather than another loan, with the main obstacle being the gap between Maccabi's asking price and his camp's valuation. The situation remains fluid as the transfer window progresses.
