Beitar Jerusalem Acquires Uri Azu on Loan from Maccabi Tel Aviv
Beitar Jerusalem announced on Monday the signing of winger Uri Azu, 21, from Maccabi Tel Aviv. The deal is structured as an unusual loan with an option to buy.
Under the terms of the agreement, Beitar Jerusalem will pay a loan fee of NIS 200,000. If Azu plays in more than 50% of the possible minutes, Beitar will have the option to purchase 50% of his playing rights for NIS 1.2 million. Azu is currently under contract with Maccabi Tel Aviv until 2027, with the possibility of a two-year extension.
Azu, who will wear number 23 for Beitar, spent the previous two seasons on loan at Ashdod, where he scored four goals and provided four assists in 27 appearances. His team was relegated at the end of the last season. In the first half of the 2024/25 season, he scored nine goals for Hapoel Nir Ramat Hasharon.
Azu is considered one of the promising players to emerge from Maccabi Tel Aviv's youth academy in recent years.
