Woman Wearing Star of David Attacked in Berlin
A 43-year-old Jewish woman was violently assaulted in central Berlin after two young men noticed the Star of David she was wearing around her neck. The attackers hurled antisemitic slurs at her before striking her with a broken glass bottle. The incident occurred on Thursday night into Friday, just hours before Rosh Hashanah, on Torstraße in the Mitte district.
According to police, the suspects approached the woman, made derogatory remarks about the Jewish symbol, and escalated the confrontation. The victim sustained cuts to her hands while trying to defend herself. After receiving initial treatment at the scene, she was taken to the hospital.
The assailants fled before police arrived. Berlin police are investigating the attack as having an antisemitic motive and have transferred the case to the state security unit, which handles politically motivated crimes. A manhunt for the two suspects is currently underway.
