Antisemitic Attack in Berlin Captured on Video as Jewish Man Threatened En Route to Synagogue

A disturbing video from Berlin, Germany, shows two young men harassing a Jewish man on his way to a synagogue, repeatedly giving a Nazi salute and shouting neo-Nazi slogans. The incident, recorded and shared on social media platform X on July 28, 2026, includes threats to the man's life. Shlomo Afanasev, a senior member of the Berlin Jewish community, posted about the attack, highlighting the severity of the antisemitic abuse and the fact that only one suspect was arrested by police.

Afanasev emphasized the painful reality that antisemitism remains a present danger, especially in Germany, where Jewish individuals should feel safe. He called for vigilance and action against the normalization of hatred toward Jews. The Israeli Embassy in Germany also responded to the incident, noting a troubling shift in the country where young Muslim men openly threaten Jews and perform Nazi salutes without shame, even revealing their identities publicly.

The embassy urged the police to take firm action to stop such behavior and stressed the societal responsibility to ensure perpetrators feel shame rather than pride in their actions.
