Woman Attacked in Berlin After Assailants Noticed Star of David Necklace

A 43-year-old woman was assaulted in central Berlin early Friday morning after two men allegedly noticed the Star of David she was wearing. According to German police, the men hurled antisemitic slurs at her before one of them attacked her with a broken glass bottle. The woman sustained injuries to her hand while trying to defend herself and was taken to the hospital for treatment. The suspects fled the scene.

The incident occurred around 2:30 AM in the Mitte district of Berlin. Police stated that the two unidentified men approached the woman after seeing her necklace, began verbally abusing her with antisemitic remarks, and then escalated to physical assault. The investigation has been handed over to the state security unit of the Berlin police, which handles politically motivated and antisemitic crimes.

Authorities are treating the attack as a suspected antisemitic hate crime. No arrests have been made, and no description of the suspects has been released. This attack adds to a growing number of antisemitic incidents reported in Germany's capital in recent years.
