Israeli Documentary on Gaza Civilian Casualties Wins Venice Award
The Israeli documentary film 'N.A.Z.A. (Incidental Damage)' by Yuval Abraham and Rachel Shore, creators of the Oscar-winning 'No Other Land,' has received the Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival. The film garnered a record-breaking 25-minute standing ovation following its premiere screening.
'N.A.Z.A.' features testimonies from 24 Israel Defense Forces (IDF) officers who describe alleged Israeli military systems and procedures used to harm and kill civilians in Gaza. Upon receiving the award, Abraham stated, 'It is certainly not easy for us to be here.' He addressed Israeli politicians and journalists who have criticized the film, some without having seen it, asserting that 'the reality is that since this film began, within these ten days, Israelis have killed at least six children.'
Abraham further claimed that Israeli intelligence officials provided information about these attacks, describing them as systematic and part of a policy based on the dehumanization of Palestinians. He credited Palestinian journalists for documenting and exposing these issues, noting that over 200 journalists have been killed in Gaza by Israelis, their voices silenced.
