Israeli Football Association Expects Issawi Frej to Withdraw Candidacy
The Israel Football Association is reportedly convinced that former Knesset member Issawi Frej will soon announce his withdrawal from the race for the association's chairmanship. This expectation stems from the incumbent chairman, Shino Zuarz, securing the support of nearly 90% of the votes within the Arab community, reportedly with the assistance of Abu Alaa and Basem Suleiman. Frej had believed he could garner significant support from the Arab community, but current assessments indicate a less favorable situation for his campaign.
Frej needs to secure 130 votes by October 8th, but sources within the association estimate he currently has only 17 votes. Meanwhile, the Hapoel and Maccabi factions are expected to run on a joint list following recent agreements, indicating a successful strategy by the current leadership. As part of this joint list, Hapoel faction chair Keren Tzedek is anticipated to receive a higher position.
