Border Guard Officer Jailed Four Years for Bribery and Arms Dealing

A Border Guard officer serving at the Ras Bidu checkpoint, northwest of Jerusalem, has been sentenced to four years in prison after being convicted of bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and arms dealing. The officer, born in 2006, served in the mandatory police and Border Guard service.

Over a period of approximately three months, the officer accepted bribes totaling around 25,000 shekels from Palestinian drivers. In exchange, he allowed over 200 individuals to pass through the checkpoint without proper permits or security checks. The court noted that the officer acted with full awareness of the security risks to the state and its citizens.

Even after a significant attack at the Ramot junction in September 2025, and despite concerns he might have facilitated the passage of attackers, the officer continued his illicit activities. He also connected illegal transporters with other police officers to ensure passage.

In addition to bribery, the officer sold two police stun grenades to a Palestinian for 1,300 shekels in September 2025. The court took into account his young age, lack of prior criminal record, cooperation with investigators, and confession when determining the sentence.

Alongside the four-year prison sentence, the officer received suspended sentences and had 2,000 shekels confiscated. No fine was imposed.
