Border Police Officer Sentenced to Four Years for Bribery and Arms Dealing

A Border Police (MAGAV) officer, David Malul, has been sentenced to four years in prison after admitting guilt to charges including bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and arms dealing. The conviction stems from an indictment filed by the Police Investigations Department (MAHASH). While stationed at the Ras Biddu checkpoint, Malul conspired with Palestinian Arabs to allow individuals without entry permits to pass through the checkpoint without inspection in exchange for money. He received approximately 25,000 shekels in bribes. Additionally, Malul confessed to stealing two police flashbang grenades and selling them to a Palestinian Arab. The court stated that Malul acted with full awareness of the threat to Israel's security and its citizens, showing indifference to the risks he created. His actions continued even after the Ramot junction terror attack in September 2025, despite his fears that he might have previously allowed terrorists through the checkpoint. Three other MAGAV officers are also implicated in the same case, with their sentencing pending.
