Border Guard Officer Jailed 4 Years for Smuggling Palestinians

A Border Guard officer, David Malul, has been sentenced to four years in prison for accepting bribes, fraud, breach of trust, and arms dealing. Malul admitted to receiving approximately NIS 25,000 to allow Palestinians without permits to pass through the Ras Biya checkpoint without inspection. He also sold two police stun grenades to a Palestinian.

The court found that Malul acted with full awareness of the security risks to Israel and its citizens, showing disregard for the danger he caused. The court noted that Malul continued his actions even after a deadly attack at the Ramot junction in September 2025, despite his own fears that he might have facilitated the passage of the attackers through his checkpoint.

Malul was convicted alongside three other Border Guard officers who were also involved in the case. Their sentencing is pending. The investigation was conducted by the Police Internal Investigations Department.
