Border Police Officer Sentenced to Four Years for Bribery and Arms Dealing

A Border Police officer, David Malul, was sentenced on Thursday to four years in prison after being convicted of accepting bribes to allow Palestinians to cross a security checkpoint without inspection and for selling stun grenades. Malul confessed to charges filed by the Police Investigation Department, admitting that while serving at the Ras Bido checkpoint, he contacted Palestinians and agreed to let residents pass without checks, even if they lacked permits, in exchange for payment. He received approximately NIS 25,000 for these actions.

Malul also admitted to taking two police stun grenades and selling them to a Palestinian. The court noted in its ruling that Malul acted with full awareness of the security risks to Israel and its citizens, showing disregard and indifference to the danger he caused. The court emphasized that Malul continued his actions even after a deadly attack at the Ramot junction in September 2025, despite his own fears that he had facilitated the passage of the attackers through the checkpoint.

In addition to Malul, who was convicted of bribery, fraud, breach of trust, and arms dealing, three other Border Police officers were convicted in the same case. Their sentences are yet to be determined.
