Teacher Shot Outside Negev School in Attempted Murder

A teacher, Arwa Nasser, from the northern town of Dir Hana was shot and wounded on Thursday morning in the parking lot of the school where he works in Hura, a Bedouin town in the Negev desert. Paramedics treated Nasser, who was in moderate condition with a penetrating wound, and evacuated him to Soroka Hospital in Be'er Sheva. No suspects have been arrested, and police are investigating all possibilities, including whether the attempted murder is linked to his work.

Students on their way to school witnessed the shooting. Residents of Hura strongly condemned the incident, stating there is no justification for firing at a teacher on his way to work. "Any dispute or criticism regarding the school should be resolved through discussion and dialogue, not through violence and shooting," one resident said.

Locals described Nasser as a dedicated, professional, and beloved teacher committed to providing students with the best educational experience. They emphasized that a teacher becoming a target of gunfire on his way to work crosses all red lines and that such events, especially when targeting educators, cannot be ignored.

Police have opened an investigation but have not yet apprehended the shooter. The report of the shooting in the school parking lot was received by Magen David Adom at 7:45 AM. A notice criticizing issues related to the school had been circulated in the town in recent days, but it remains unclear if this is connected to the shooting.
