Teacher Wounded in Shooting Outside Negev School

A teacher, approximately 40 years old, was moderately wounded Thursday morning in a shooting incident at the entrance to a school in the Bedouin town of Hura in the Negev desert. Paramedics treated the victim at the scene before transporting him to Soroka Hospital, where he is being treated for a penetrating wound. Police have launched an investigation into the shooting.

The incident occurs amid a wave of violence. Last week, a man in his 30s was shot and killed in Nazareth, one day after three other individuals were murdered in the same city. In that case, the killer reportedly posed as a "Wolt" delivery driver, knocked on the victim's door, and fired nine shots. The previous day, two men in their 30s were shot and killed while sitting in their car in Nazareth, and less than three hours later, a 27-year-old resident was shot and killed in the Bir Al-Amir neighborhood.

Following the spate of killings, police announced an increased presence in Nazareth. During overnight operations involving dozens of officers and border police, ten suspects were arrested and weapons including a handgun and a fragmentation grenade were seized. Police targeted compounds belonging to criminal gangs, with some suspects attempting to flee on foot before being apprehended. The previous night, over 20 suspects, including the brother of one of the murder victims, were arrested and their detentions extended by the court.
