Teacher Shot Outside Negev School in Front of Students
A teacher was shot and wounded in the parking lot of a school in Hura, a Bedouin town in the Negev, on Thursday morning, just days after the start of the academic year. The victim, 43-year-old teacher Oroua Nasser, was reportedly ambushed by armed assailants as he exited his vehicle. The attackers opened fire at close range, striking Nasser before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The incident occurred in front of horrified students and staff members who were arriving for the school day.
Paramedics treated Nasser at the scene for a penetrating wound and evacuated him to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, where his condition is described as moderate. Police have launched an investigation and are conducting extensive searches for the suspects, none of whom have been apprehended as of Thursday afternoon. The shooting has caused shock and fear among the school community and the local residents.
