Teacher Shot Outside Negev School in Front of Students
A teacher was shot and wounded in the parking lot of a school in the Bedouin town of Hura, in the Negev, on Thursday morning, just days after the start of the academic year. The victim, 43-year-old teacher Urooa Nassar, was reportedly ambushed by armed assailants as he exited his vehicle. The attackers opened fire at close range, striking Nassar before fleeing the scene in a vehicle. The incident occurred in front of horrified students and staff members who were arriving for the school day.
Emergency medical services were called to the scene and provided initial treatment to Nassar, who was conscious but suffering from a penetrating gunshot wound. He was transported by intensive care ambulance to Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, where his condition is described as moderate.
Police have launched an investigation and are conducting extensive searches for the suspects, none of whom have been apprehended as of Thursday afternoon. The shooting has left students and school personnel traumatized.
